The Old Model & My New Model

The Old Model Sucks

We all know the old model. The one where you work hard your entire childhood so one day you can get a good job working hard to make ends meet and make someone else rich. Well I think the old model sucks, and I've got a new model. I'm working hard to make myself rich with multiple sources of income, doing only things I love to do.

The old model looked like this: You go to school to learn how to be a good employee. Your goal throughout your school career is to get a high paying job with benefits. A job like this provides security, so you know your basic needs in life will be met. You then proceed to spend your life working hard, paying taxes, and at the end you get to retire.

This model prevailed for centuries. The idea of doing anything differently than had been done for generations before was unspeakable or considered irresponsible. After all, people had a responsibility to their families and society to fit in and be a good cog in the wheel.

But what about responsibility to self?

People like you and me never subscribed to the old model anyway. As entrepreneurs, we always knew in some way that the path to happiness was going to be blazed on our own terms.

Well I've decided to make a new model for myself, and follow my own path. I quit my job and started my own business over 12 years ago, and have never looked back. But even that wasn't much different than the old model.

Today, I am building wealth and financial independence by creating and nurturing multiple sources of income, or MSIs. In the old model, people relied on one source of income, their job. Just today I heard someone mention the word JOB is an acronym for "Just Over Broke". Most jobs (and even most small businesses where there is one income stream and you operate in the business) do not provide enough of an income to sustain the standard of living you want or deserve.

But with multiple sources of income, you are never reliant on only one check, and you can make money round the clock without trading your time or health. This blog is a chronicle of my adventures as I build and implement my own MSIs.

The first, and one of the easiest, is Bob Proctor's Six Minutes to Success program. This program takes 6 minutes a day to do. It delivers a daily dose of inspiration and thought provocation. And it has a generous affiliate program for anyone who refers it to other people.
